104th bar screen in Ille-et-Vilaine

An automatic bar screen/compaction screw unit was recently installed near Rennes.

Positioned in a ∅1600mm manhole upstream of the pumping station, the bar screen blocks and brings up the largest waste, thus protecting the pumps.

In the event of a power cut, or a problem with the bar screen, an emergency manual basket (mounted on the side of the bar screen's lower frame) filters the waste until it's back in operation.

The screw compactor significantly reduces waste volume and moisture content.

As the title of the article states, we now have over 100 bar screens in operation in the Ille-et-Vilaine département.
